ECMA Nominates The Guild As Venue of the Year
January 15, 2009
The ECMA recently announced their Industry Award nominees and The Guild is announced as a contender in Venue of the Year Category. This nomination comes close on the heels of the Music PEI Award nomination in the same-named category.
Cate Proctor, Executive Director, is extremely pleased with the first-time ECMA Industry Awards nomination which will be awarded on March 1, 2009 in Cornerbrook, Newfoundland.
“For The Guild to be considered for an award amongst contenders from across Atlantic Canada is a good indication that we are on the right track. It is very rewarding to have our efforts noticed in this way”.
Proctor notes that although the ECMA nomination highlights the variety of musical talent that have come through the venue, The Guild puts every best effort into supporting and promoting all aspects of the arts on PEI.
She adds, “The nomination will only heighten awareness of The Guild’s presence on PEI as well as endorse what we provide to all members of the arts community both within and outside our province.”
She feels that all areas of the arts and business communities must work together to achieve success. Further to this, she says that without the support of their Box Office sponsor, MBS Radio, and the summer Gotta Go Festival Sponsor, Freedom 55 Financial, there would have been fewer opportunities to both promote the artists and invite the public to take part in their creative works throughout the year.
The Guild also acknowledges the continuing financial support of the Province of PEI (Community & Cultural Affairs) and the City of Charlottetown.
