Gypsophilia headline New Year's Eve Gala@The Guild
December 23, 2009

Charlottetown – The  award winning Halifax-based group, Gypsophilia, will headline their 7-piece, gypsy-jazz  style at the New Years Eve Gala@The Guild on December 31st. Seamlessly blending Balkan-folk music, hip-swaying swing, with a dynamic rock edge, Gypsophilia is a jazz-ensemble mastery; a fusion of musical elements to create a sound fresh and intoxicating.
.
The Guild is the place to be on New Year’s Eve. Under the creative direction of Cate Proctor, Executive Director, The Guild has emerged as the hottest venue in Charlottetown, where people can celebrate in style.

“Venues seem to have gotten away from an elegant New Year’s celebration so we are bringing it back”, says Cate Proctor.

“It’s an evening to come out and celebrate the New Year with a wonderful blend of music, sumptuous food presented by the Delta Prince Edward and champagne at midnight.  We are limiting our ticket sales at 100 to accommodate a cabaret style setup for the Gala, allowing ample room for guests to dance and mingle”.

The theatre, decorated in red and black, will beckon the dancers and music-lovers and give them what they want… a reason to dance!  A New Year’s Day draw will be held just after midnight for a weekend getaway for two, including spa services, at the Delta Moncton.

Gypsophilia won 2009 Jazz Recording of the Year, presented by Music Nova Scotia only weeks ago. They brought the house down at Charlottetown’s Jazz & Blues Festival in September when, as an opening act, the audience demanded an encore performance.

The doors open at 9pm and entertainment begins at 9:30 pm. Formal attire is encouraged.
Tickets are $50 each and available at The Guild box office. Early indication is that this event will sell out quickly.
