Soul Of Flamenco Electrifies The Guild April 17
March 15, 2010
Charlottetown – The energy of Spanish culture comes to PEI for the first ever flamenco concert at The Guild theatre on Saturday, April 17.
‘Marta & Richard’, husband and wife duo, bring soulful lyrics and award winning, energetic music to their audiences all over the world. They have been touring the globe for more than 20 years, travelling from their home base in Digby, Nova Scotia.
The duo consists of singer, Marta Moir, from Colombia and her husband/ guitar accompanist, Richard Moir, originally from Scotland. Together they create astonishing vocal and guitar flamenco music that has toured India, the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Spain, Australia and many corners of the USA and Canada.
In 2007, they won top prize at Music Fest 2007 held in their home province on Nova Scotia.
Only 3 months ago, in December, 2009, Marta and Richard were invited to St. Petersburg, Russia to participate in the Northern Flamenco Festival. In addition to performing as a duo, they appeared on stage as accompanists for flamenco dancers from Venezuela.
The audience should not be surprised should Marta jump into Flamenco dance, should the rhythms move her, and audience members are welcome to join in!
Tickets for their April 17th concert at The Guild are $17 and currently available at The Guild’s box office. Showtime is 8pm with theatre doors opening at 7:30pm.
