The Guild Announces its exciting 2017 Festival Season

The Guild Theatre is thrilled to announce its 2017 Festival Season, happening from May to October in downtown Charlottetown. Joining the return of Guild favourite Anne & Gilbert: The Musical, Tara MacLean will bring Canada’s East Coast to life with Atlantic Blue.

Playing throughout July & August, Atlantic Blue tells the story of how music arrived and thrived in the East Coast. Funny, heart-wrenching, and beautiful, this show will showcase iconic songwriters from the region, while new and upcoming guest artists will take you to the future of East Coast music. Atlantic Blue is a timeless treat that weaves through the ages, and it’s not to be missed.

PEI’s greatest love story is back! Anne & Gilbert: The Musical returns to The Guild. Featuring a 20-member cast and orchestra, Anne & Gilbert has become a Canadian sensation. Journey with Anne Shirley into young-adulthood, as she experiences her first job, university, and of course her tumultuous relationship with Gilbert Blythe.

June at The Guild will feature Mike Pendergast’s Kitchen Table Concert Series. Every Monday Night in June will celebrate Island roots & folk music. Shows include: Opening Night with the Pendy’s, two songwriters circles featuring amazing Island performers, and a rousing closing night with the Avonlea Show Band.
For kids, and the young at heart, The Guild is proud to announce: Dreamworks Madagascar, A Musical Adventure Jr., and Seussical Jr. An adaptation of the much loved Madagascar, this musical for kids features Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the Hippo, and hilarious penguins! Filled with outlandish characters, adventure galore, and an upbeat score, Madagascar Jr. will leave audiences with no choice but to “Move It, Move It!” Seussical Jr. is narrated by the beloved Cat in the Hat, and explores Horton the Elephant’s quest to save the people of Whoville, who live on a tiny speck of dust. This fantastic musical exemplifies the philosophy that “a person is a person, no matter how small”.
For our late night fans, we have two great offerings: Popalopalots: Live Improv Comedy, and Charlottetown Burlesque: Late Night At The Guild. Charlottetown Burlesque have a habit of thrilling and titillating audiences, and Popalopalots will make you laugh when then succeed, and even harder when they fail.
