ECMA Nominee, Venue of the Year, 2010

We were nominated for "Venue of the Year" by Music PEI. Yay for us and congratulations to all the nominees!

We cant wait to host some of the great events during the Metro Credit Union Music PEI Week in January.

The Performance Hall and the Gallery will be closed from Dec 23rd until mid-March. Our Adminstration offices will be open 9AM -1PM Monday to Friday until that time. NOTE: "The Music Man" will continue his performances Tuesdays at 1045AM. Wendy Druet's art classes will also continue as usual, with classes starting the week of January 16th.

We thank everyone for their support during this temporary reduction in service, and look forward to booking great events in the Spring.

Temporary Layoffs

The Board of Directors of The Guild hosted an information session at The Guild on Thursday, November 17th, where it will shared the reasons for temporary staff layoffs and service reduction in the Performance Hall and Gallery.

This temporary situation will not affect December shows in the theatre or Guild tenants.  "The Music Man", Mike Pendergast, will continue his performances on Tuesday mornings at 10:45AM in the theatre.

The response we received from the public was very supportive, and many ideas for re-structure, programming, funding and sustainability were shared and discussed. I want to thank Board Chair Michele Dorsey for leading the meeting in a welcoming and positive way. I also want ot thank Harry Holman, Dept. of Tourism and Culture, and Ron Atkinson, Economic Development for the City of Charlottetown, for attending the meeting, hearing the concerns of the community and pledging to work with us to create a better Guild.

There are ways the community can help us get our message of support to those in government and in the broader community. On the "Guild News" sidebar, there is a form letter you can sign and send in to the Minister of Tourism and Culture, the Mayor, our MLA Richard Brown and our City councillor Eddie Rice. Their addresses are in the document.

You can also share your personal experiences at The Guild and how valuable it is to the community, and send that along to those same people in government.

My door is open to hear your concerns and ideas. Please call or email to set up an appointment, or drop by The Guild.

Any inquiries regarding the Performance Hall, Gallery @ The Guild or the Guild office spaces can be made directly to Ghislaine O’Hanley, Executive Director, ghislaine@theguildpei.com

This August I was fortunate to have an exhibition of my art quilts at the Guild Gallery. The entire process was positive, from the application and paperwork, to the setup, the show itself and finally the aftermath. Ghislaine was helpful around publicity and the general setup. The facility itself was clean and the staff friendly. That I didn't have to pay rental and commission was wonderful. Because of the timing I was also part of Art in the Open, which brought many people through the gallery who had never been there before. - Caroline Crawford - Textile Artist
