About Us
The PEI Arts Guild Incorporated, known as ‘The Arts Guild’, is a not-for-profit and registered charity mandated by the province and municipality to own and operate the facility, theatre, and art gallery located at 111 Queen Street, providing a venue for new and established visual and performing artists in Prince Edward Island, and ancillary supporting services to Island artists, with a dedicated commitment to advancing equity by supporting and promoting the work of 2SLGBTQI+, Indigenous, Black, underrepresented, and racialized artists and communities.
The Arts Guild offers an affordable, accessible, and supportive venue for Island artists and creatives, which doubles as a flexible multi-use space that attracts artistic expression in all forms. We help host over 400 artistic engagements annually, with numerous rehearsals, meetings, play readings, classes, performances, concerts, and workshops.
We fulfill our mandate by operating and stewarding a dynamic cultural facility that provides artists and arts organizations with accessible space to create, rehearse, present, and collaborate. Through the Black Box theatre, gallery spaces, studios, and shared workspaces, The Arts Guild supports the development and presentation of new work while serving as a gathering place for the Island’s creative community. By maintaining and improving our facilities, cultivating partnerships, and offering flexible rentals and programs, we ensure that artists, organizations, and community groups have the resources they need to thrive while generating sustainable revenue that supports our mission.
The Hilda Woolnough Gallery is currently home to This Town Is Small (TTIS), an artist-run centre dedicated to fostering contemporary visual art and supporting local artists. Through exhibitions, workshops, artist talks, and a wide range of programming, TTIS provides meaningful opportunities for artistic experimentation, professional development, and public engagement.
The Arts Guild also houses a recording studio, a multi-purpose community room, and office space for a number of creative and cultural organizations. Tenants include Music PEI and the Fédération culturelle de l’Île-du-Prince-Édouard, as well as organizations whose work intersects with and supports the arts community, such as Pride PEI. Together, these tenants contribute to a vibrant and collaborative cultural environment that strengthens the creative sector on Prince Edward Island.
We are a small organization doing big things. To continue to operate we rely on the support of the community, local businesses, and individuals. If you’d like to be part of The Arts Guild - get in touch!
